PTSD, or Post-Traumatic-Stress-Disorder, is a very common thing among soldiers who fought in the war effort. It can be very devastating to them emotionally, and sometimes even physically. Sometimes they can’t sleep or do things correctly. They constantly have flashbacks about whatever the incident was and they must live with that for the rest of their lives. They also seem to think that it might happen again. Also, someone with post-traumatic stress disorder are fifty percent more likely to die of heart problems at 30 than someone without it.
The article mentions that treatments like therapy or drugs would normally help them, but when using drugs someone with the disorder would be more likely to abuse it. While these treatments aren’t as good as people may like them to be, it’s the only treatment we have right now because the disorder is not a physical problem. If it were a physical problem, I probably wouldn’t be writing this.
