This is my interpretation of "Interpreter of Maladies" for English.
Our trip to India was really cool. We did a bunch of things, but in this entry I’ll write about the day we went to the Sun Temple in Konarak. Our driver, Mr. Kapasi, was a great driver. He knew many interesting things about India, especially about the Sun Temple. I wonder if he has another job? Anyway, I remember him talking to Mina about something. I wasn’t paying attention when they were. She seemed very interested in his stories, so he must be an interesting person. Although India is a great place and I like to see the land, I was disappointed when Mr. Kapasi told us that the trip was much longer than we originally thought. Oh well, at least we got to stop to take pictures of monkeys and that guy on the side of the road. I also got to read the guide about India the whole time. It was a very interesting book and I had my face dug up in it the whole time, so I hope I didn’t miss too much. After a few hours of driving, we stopped for some lunch, finally. I was very hungry. Mina invited Mr. Kapasi over to our table, so he ate with us. After lunch, I got to take pictures of the two of them together and we got back on the road. After another half-hour or so, we finally arrived at the Sun Temple in Konarak. Too bad we couldn’t walk around in it because it was full of rubble. The outside was very interesting. There were many cool picture and statues, but I wonder if they’re too inappropriate for the kids. They were pictures of women in unusual poses, as well as a few statues of some sacred figures in India’s culture. I walked ahead of everyone else with the kids behind me. Mr. Kapasi stayed back with Mina; I guess she was really interested in knowing more about India. After we completely circled the Temple, we got back in the car and started to drive back, but Mr. Kapasi suggested that we go to see the hills of Udayagiri and Khandagiri. I didn’t really feel like going, but I guess he just wanted us to see as much of India as possible. When we got there, the kids and I got out of the car but Mina was complaining about how her shoes were uncomfortable so we left her in the car with Mr. Kapasi. I why he didn’t come with us? Maybe he didn’t feel like walking either. It’s a good thing he had a wife and that Mina loves me to death, otherwise I would have bee a little suspicious. We got up to the top of the hill and looked around. After a few minutes, Mina finally came out to see the hills with us. When she got up to us, she asked where Bobby, my son was. It turns out that Bobby was getting is butt kicked by some monkeys. I made it look like I was shocked, but inside I was laughing a little. Mr. Kapasi ran to them with a stick and scared them all away. It was really exciting.
That was a great day in India and probably made the trip for me. I hope Mr. Kapasi and Mina had as good of a time as I did. They probably did. I wish we could have kept in contact with Kapasi, maybe get his address so we could sent him the pictures. I'm surprised Mina didn't ask him. Oh well, he probably forgot about us already.
