Yes, I haven’t posted in a while. Sadly, I have to come back with a rant. Most of you will agree with me when I say that we get a lot of homework nowadays. In fact, it’s almost too much.
We get 8 different periods during the day. One of them is reserved for lunch, but sadly I lack that. Every period I learn something, and almost every period I get more homework. Unfortunately, it’s an exceptional amount of it. By the end of an average day, it will take at least 2 hours to finish.
I know, it probably doesn’t sound like much to you. But to me, it’s a lot, especially when you’re involved in the extracurricular activities that the school and colleges push you to do so much. I’m a part of a team, and we meet every day except Sunday and meet for 6 hours minimum after school and at least 7 hours on Saturday. When it gets out by 9 or 10 PM, how am I supposed to finish more than 2 hours of homework and still get good sleep?
Then there come projects. With 8 different classes, it’s possible to get 8 different projects, especially around Midterms and Finals. Projects are, in case you didn’t know, large pieces of homework that spread a part of a few days to a few weeks. Also, they’re usually due during the same time period.
Unfortunately, I will get even more homework, less free time, and less sleep as my career as a student continues on.
I’m not sure if I’m the only one noticing this, because no one else seems to. However, I saw it on the news this morning and I decided to make something of it. Sorry if you were hoping for something more exciting for my first post in a few weeks.
I totally agree. Some nights, I get four hours of homework, which is hard enough without an already busy schedule such as yours. Seriously, there are some teachers who just act like their class is the only class your taking and they can assign however much homework they want. It really annoys me when two or more of these teachers give you a ton of work in one night.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Jesse, but then again most of Jesse's classes are honors. You should've known that when you had a "no lunch" period or joining a club that you have to dedicate to, would make it more hard on you for free time. I join two clubs that meet once a month for 30 minuets and I have a lunch period, where I can do my homework, but I got to admit many of my teachers don't give out too much homework except math, I hate math. But it's also difficult on me, since something you can learn in 10 minuets, might take me an hour. But I totally agree with that the teachers think you only take their course and give so much homework out
ReplyDeleteBoth of those decisions were made because I believe that I would need them for a career that I think I would pick.
ReplyDeleteAlso, extracurricular activities are essentially mandatory. You wouldn't believe how much better it looks to schools that you participated than if you hadn't
